2629. Part of a Flemish Bobbin lace Flounce

  • Type: Flemish Bobbin
  • Purpose: Flounce
  • Date: 1680-1700
  • Colour: natural
  • Width: 9cms
  • Length: 124cms
  • Notes: Not in the Italian style. See Antique Lace- Identifying Types and Techniques By Heather Toomer Page 135 Plate 148(b). Note footside edge has been cut through in places so the original piece was a lot deeper. It has been much used and much laundered. There are some bundles of threads taken across the back of the piece and there are multiple brides with picots. It is very fine work. Near the far end note the pattern repeat of 22cms.
